Digital Wisdom

When technology replaces thinking

Technology is an extraordinary tool. It is also a test. When we start delegating what we shouldn't, be it attention, memory or thinking, we lose what we didn't know we were losing, until it is too late. We trade questions for commands that guarantee answers. And AI, because it is so good at simulating, makes it harder still.

Our work here is not technical training on AI. It is conversation about how to think with technology, and in spite of it. How to use AI as a thinking tool, not a substitute. How to keep listening and attention in a world designed for distraction. How to decide well when information is abundant and wisdom scarce. And what can never be delegated: caring for a real other.

Artificial intelligence amplifies what we already are. The question is: what are we without it?

Level 1

Provoke

A session on the relationship between the human and the technological. Exercises that reveal what we delegate without noticing — and what we gain, or lose, in that delegation.

Wisdom to Transform the Future, piloto, 2026

In the pilot of our in-house laboratory, three months of sessions and a retreat, a group of professionals from different organisations examined their own relationship with technology: what gets delegated without noticing, what that does to attention, memory and conversations. They did not leave with rules; they left with criteria.

Level 2

Develop

A programme that develops critical literacy for the digital age. Using AI as a thinking tool, protecting attention and listening, deciding well with and without technology.

Galp, IT Business Partners

Half a year with the internal IT consulting team: short online modules and long workshops built on real cases, including presentations to internal clients with feedback on the spot. The underlying goal: learning to act as translators between the language of technology and the language of the business — and to take in what non-specialists have to say.

Level 3

Transform

When the organisation needs to decide, deliberately, on its relationship with technology. Setting down in writing, and together, what is delegated and what never will be — and revisiting that boundary as the tools change.

Way Beyond, laboratório interno

The longest-running case is our own. We use AI in the company's everyday work and keep a permanent laboratory, Wisdom to Transform the Future, to decide, with intention, what we delegate and what we never will. We challenge ourselves first; only then do we take the work to clients.

Digital Wisdom rests on Critical Thinking, on Listening and on Curiosity. Without them, technology only accelerates what we were already doing badly.
